BECO PROTECT® XS XStream is the latest product innovation from Begerow, introduced at the Intervitis/ Interfructa 2007 in Stuttgart, Germany. Begerow presented itself as a system provider for complete wine, fruit juice, and spirit production solutions, including biotechnology and clarification and sterile filtration applications. Among the many guests at the Begerow booth were high-profile visitors including EU Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel and the German Minister of Agriculture, Horst Seehofer.
Modernism combined with the Begerow trademarks of quality, purity, and system solutions, were visually integrated into the new booth design. Three spiral-shaped booth components formed the backdrop for the Begerow innovations.
SIHAferm PureNature – the yeast combination pack
Lively bubbles demonstrated Begerow's family of oenological SIHA products: The new SIHAferm PureNature yeast combination pack offers near-natural controlled spontaneous fermentation. A wild yeast strain is used to start the fermentation; a pure yeast strain ensures high-yield fermentation. SIHAferm PureNature enhances formation of grape-specific flavors and was developed for wines characterized by terroir. Further additions to the Begerow family are SIHA OakArome wood chips that come in four different degrees of toasting. Tasting sessions offered opportunity for trade fair visitors to experience the effect of the new yeasts and wood chips on wine quality.
Depth filter cartridge BECO PROTECT® XS XStream – a world innovation
The BECO PROTECT® XS XStream filter cartridge made its first public appearance. Before its debut in Stuttgart, the new Begerow product was tested thoroughly in advance for a whole year in the laboratory and in production trials. The unique feature of the BECO PROTECT® XS XStream filter cartridge is that product flows from inside to outside, resulting in minimum product loss when the filter housing is emptied.
It also offers a larger fine fleece area, resulting in 30% longer filter life. The innovative flow regime leads to significantly better product filterability.
In Stuttgart Begerow also presented the BECO PROTECT® TS TwinStream depth filter cartridge, which was nominated for this year's innovation award. Its unique design combines two filter cartridge elements in a single depth filter cartridge. The advantages include twice the filter service life, 100% more fine filter area than conventional depth filter cartridges, and high flow capacity with low differential pressure. In addition, BECO PROTECT® TS TwinStream offers best possible protection for downstream membrane filter cartridges.
The new BECO MEMBRANE PFplus membrane filter cartridge for sterile filtration for instance. It is made from high-quality PVDF material, offers above-average service life, and ensures high bacteriological safety.
How does the wine move through the filter cartridge?
A new interactive Begerow film that was shown for the first time at Intervitis/ Interfructa demonstrates the process. In the future, Begerow and its partners will use the film for training purposes. Several technical colleges have already expressed an interest.
At the end of April, 40,000 trade visitors from more than 70 countries came to Intervitis/ Interfructa in Stuttgart in order to find out about the latest international beverage technology developments. The Begerow booth was very popular. Managing Director Christa Tesch is satisfied: "Stuttgart is the main beverage trade fair in our home market. We want to communicate our innovations to users, because competence in the systems business is what customers expect from us."
